Diversity & Inclusion

Inspire your students or staff with his first-hand story of success that leaves an impression lasting for weeks, months, and even years.

I have cerebral palsy and hearing loss.  Recognizing that our challenges can be our greatest gifts, I share stories and insights that have enabled me to learn to walk and achieve other milestones once believed impossible.  Each audience is taken on a journey of self-discovery that also invites introspection.

For youth, these programs help instill in students the courage and confidence to excel in their studies; treat their peers with kindness and respect; develop character and resilience that are the hallmarks of leadership; and be motivated to realize their own goals and dreams.

For employers and organizations, my conference keynotes highlight disability acceptance and overcoming obstacles with perseverance and an optimistic "Yes I Can!" spirit.  I also use humor to help demonstrate the power of a positive attitude, facing new challenges with tenacity that increase productivity.

Reluctantly competing against the funniest students from 22 colleges and universities in NJ, I was judged a 2008 New Jersey King of Campus Comedy finalist by professional comedians. Notably, it was my first time at stand-up comedy!  Self-deprecating humor makes my audiences feel like the Heroes we know they can be.

Each of us can be heroes - in other words, ordinary people who rise above extraordinary circumstances - like our favorite television characters do each week.  My heartfelt letter to actor David Hasselhoff offers unique insights into these presentations.  Without telling family and friends, I wrote a heartfelt thank-you note to David, explaining the ways I was inspired by the Knight Rider slogan, “One man can make a difference.” David responded to Paul's letter, asking him if he can include the full letter in his memoirs, originally titled “Making Waves,” which is published in several languages around the world. Paul's letter remains the only fan letter that David has included in his autobiography.

A champion motivational speaker in front of any audience, Dr. Paul's life experiences are a testament to the unrelenting power of courage and unconditional love, shared through his experiences and feelings of self-criticism, reflection, humor, joy, and, ultimately, triumph.
